“Nu-Kho-An” – An Intelligent Thai AI To Help Kids Learn

           Thai education is continually improving, especially through the use of classroom technology. Some technologies have been designed especially to help students with learning disabilities or LD, which makes up to 22.48%* of the total, in order to help them learn just like everyone else.

           One innovative project is called “Nu-Kho-An” by Assoc Prof. Dr. Charturong Tantibubdhit, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Thammasart School of Engineering (TSE) which is an easy test program that is simple enough for a child of 6 years old to use. It uses AI to analyze each student’s learning skills to identify three possible learning disabilities – Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. The test and analysis only takes half an hour and the accuracy is up to 95%. The collected data is then used to help each student practice the skills they need and to create an individual study plan for each of them.

           This project will help a lot in the development of education as it provides more understanding and assistance to every student. Students with learning disabilities do not have a lower IQ than average, they only have their own different ways to learn and understand. However, in an educational system where a large group of students have to study together, teachers do not have enough time to teach each kid individually. So, children with LD are often viewed as the slow ones, as students who do not pay attention, or even as troublesome students. Therefore, “Nu-Kho-An” can help bring out the potential of every child.

Bangkok Bank has collaborated with Thammasat University to launch Startup Ecosystem @TU, a space for young people from academia and domestic and international start-ups to create new innovations to develop the country.
